How did Macey and Arnie come into your world?

For quite some time, I often spoke to Harry about the possibility of adding a pup to our ‘family’. I think I eventually wore him down! Initially, Harry wasn’t very keen and as he never owned a dog before he didn’t quite comprehend what he was missing out on, until Macey came along! We had done so much research and we both agreed an Irish Terrier would be perfect for us! We waited patiently until we were finally able to pick up our little Irish pup which was early last year (just before COVID times).
We drove to the Hunter Valley in NSW from Sydney (literally just before the craziness) and instantly fell in love with Macey, and so our family of two became three!
Macey’s antics made our days so fun and interesting - she’s been our little ray of sunshine from the get-go! Harry and I were married in September of last year (which Macey was also a part of). Since we couldn’t really have a honeymoon the next best thing was an adorable sausage puppy! Harry and I both have a soft spot for dachshunds and we were also wanting a sibling for Macey (plus, we needed a doggy each - it’s only fair!) We also picked up Arnie from a registered breeder in the Hunter Valley, he was such a chubby puppy and he had such big paws too! Harry and I couldn’t entirely agree on a name at first - I liked Archie and Harry liked Arnold so we compromised... But, along came Arnie or Arnold (when he’s in trouble).
Since we used our honeymoon/wishing well money on Arnie, I suppose in a way you could say Arnie was a wonderful wedding gift from our family and friends which we think is actually pretty special!

How would you describe their personalities?

Macey is a quirky, bubbly, social butterfly - she loves everyone and their dog! Macey always has a big smile on her face when she meets new friends and is always such a happy pup!

Arnie loves his doggy friends and their humans too but he probably loves food a tad more - he is very food motivated and if he had it his way, he would eat everything and anything! Arnie can be a bit bossy and can be quite vocal at times but he just knows what he wants (especially when food is involved)!

If they could tell us all something about you, what would they say?

“Dad is quite the softy at times and gives into our puppy dog eyes, he sneaks us lots of treats when mum isn’t looking or doesn’t always know about!”

“Mum buys us lots of fun toys and delicious treats and could spend a fortune on us which sometimes dad doesn’t always know about!”

What do they love to do the most?

Macey and Arnie love playing and zooming around together - they love their walkies, trips to the beach, going to doggy daycare or visiting the local park! At the end of the day, Macey and Arnie love their pats and cuddles too!

What's everyday life like with your dogs by your side?

It’s like having two toddlers but without the tantrums! We are greeted with puppy dog eyes and wagging tails but they certainly keep us on our toes at times - they always know how to make us laugh and bring us so much joy every day!
